Workshop: Narrative Therapy - Introduction
a workshop for working therapists
Narrative Therapy is based in the assumption that telling stories is a means by which we create meaning from our experiences. Stories can illuminate who we are and what we hold as important. Narrative therapy brings these stories centre-stage and seeks ways to re-tell them. It also springs from a set of beliefs and practices which prize the collective nature of meaning-making and it holds some challenges for many more traditional views of therapy. This workshop will look at some fundamentals of the Narrative approach by means of talks, discussions, and some trying-out of practices in small groups and in the whole group.
The workshop is intended for working therapists - counsellors, psychotherapists, and other professional helpers who have some communication training and a therapeutic talking role in their work.
