Course: Constructive Brief Therapies

a course for helping professionals

This course outlines innovative ways of working with the problems your clients bring to you. We explore Solution-Focused and Solution-Oriented approaches, which have been developed since the mid-1980s and are attracting increasing interest from health and social care agencies in this country. The emphasis of this course is on exploring ways of thinking and methods from these approaches; experimenting with these in the group; and helping participants to integrate what they are learning with their professional practice. The course includes talks, demonstrations, practical exercises, discussions and consultation on case-work.

Who runs the course?

Rob Cumming has taught counsellors and many other helping professionals since 1993. He has led short solution-focused therapy trainings for agencies and colleges since 1996 and has been integrating solution-focused, narrative, elements of NLP, and other brief approaches in to longer professional trainings for many years.

Rob is a qualified trainer and designer of training and a BACP Accredited counsellor. He works for agencies and in private practice based in Dorchester. He has included brief therapy techniques in his own practice for the last nine years.
