About Rob Cumming
Rob has been working as a therapist based in his home town of Dorchester, Dorset, England, since 1990. He has a private practice as well as seeing clients through various local agencies over the years. He has supervised therapists and counsellors since 1995.
Rob is Accredited as a Counsellor by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Since 1994 Rob has focused his own training and professional development on brief therapies, NLP and family therapy moving to a flexible, often briefer way of working which suits him and (he believes) clients and the agencies who seek his services.
Rob's particular interests for some years have been Solution Focused Brief Therapy and more recently Narrative Therapy.
Rob also teaches counselling, communication skills, and brief therapy. He has taught counselling since 1993, and from 1999 to 2002 he organised the counsellor training at Weymouth College. Rob has trained as a trainer, culminating in the poetically-named Training and Development Level 4 (Learning) Award in 2000. He is accustomed to designing and delivering training (and education) in everything from basic communication skills to Diplomas in counselling, as well as shorter trainings for qualified counsellors and for health and social care professionals.
